Decision record to approve an amendment to the 2012 Sonoran Desert National Monument resource management plan (RMP) regarding livestock grazing compatibility, BLM Lower Sonoran Field Office, September 28, 2020. The affected BLM grazing allotments were the Arnold, Hazen, Beloat, Big Horn, Conley, and Lower Vekol allotments. This decision was the result of a 2016 federal court order which found that the BLM’s 2012 grazing compatibility analysis for the monument’s RMP environmental impact statement (EIS) was inadequate. (This 2020 grazing compatibility decision was also overturned on August 9, 2023, when a federal judge found that the BLM had still failed to consider all of the relevant facts regarding the ecological effects of livestock grazing.)
