AGFD Habitat Partnership Committee (HPC) grant #10-607 of $575,000 to help fund the acquisition of the grazing permits for the BLM Horseshoe and Tonto National Forest Copper Creek grazing allotments associated with the Horseshoe Ranch base property. The grant record states that another $135,000 of HPC funds (HPC grant #08-607) were allocated to this in 2008, as the total estimated value of the permits was $710,000. (Note: By law, federal grazing permits are not property, so they can’t be legally bought and sold. The existing permittee can only agree to waive the permit to the new ranch base property owner.)
