Sonoran Desert National Monument RMP Amendment decision, 09/28/20

Decision record to approve a resource management plan (RMP) amendment for the six livestock grazing allotments in the BLM Lower Sonoran Field Office’s Sonoran Desert National Monument, September 28, 2020. They are the Arnold, Hazen, Beloat, Big Horn, Conley, and Lower Vekol allotments. The decision was the result of a 2016 federal court order which found that the BLM’s 2012 grazing compatibility analysis for the monument’s RMP/EIS was inadequate. (This 2nd decision was also overturned on August 9, 2023, when a federal judge found that the BLM had failed to consider all of the relevant facts regarding the ecological effects of livestock grazing.)
